Install

Open the .pkg, click Continue, agree to the license, then Install. macOS may ask for your password. The app is copied to Applications.

Command line

In the Classic (non–App Store) build, use App menu → Install notedpad++ Command Line Tool… then run notedpad++ file.txt.

Settings

Preferences live under Notedpad++ → Settings. Config files are in ~/Library/Application Support/Notedpad++.

Appearance

Classic edition: compact navy toolbar. System Theme edition: Tahoe chrome on macOS 26. The Dock icon follows Light and Dark while the app is running.
